i think the CXB balls have softer feel than the CXR so the CXB is for people who want to have good feel on shots around the green and more accurate putts, also softer balls are for people with slower swings. The CXR is for distance i think , its more of a hard ball instead of the softer CXB , its for longer tee shots and overall a little boost of distance, but not for good feel around greens, or putts. It depends on what he would rather want or needs.
